Wolt vs Bolt Food vs Foodora: which platform to choose in Prague?

A side-by-side comparison of Wolt, Bolt Food, and Foodora for bike couriers in Prague — registration, pay rates, order volume, and which platform suits you best.

If you're starting as a courier in Prague, choosing your platform is one of the first decisions you'll make. All three — Wolt, Bolt Food, and Foodora — are active in the city, but they differ in registration process, pay structure, order frequency, and the zones where they're strongest.

This comparison is based on feedback from our clients who deliver in Prague. It's updated for 2025.

Registration and activation

Wolt: The registration process is fully online and typically takes 3–5 business days. You'll need a valid ID, a bank account, and proof of right to work in the Czech Republic. Activation is straightforward — download the app, complete the video training, and you can start taking orders.

Bolt Food: Similar online process to Wolt, usually 2–4 days. Bolt is often slightly faster to activate. You'll need the same documents. The courier app is well-designed and has a useful earnings dashboard.

Foodora: Foodora has been running in Prague for the longest time and has a slightly more structured onboarding — you may be invited to a short in-person or video orientation. Documents required are the same.

If you need help with any of these registrations — especially if Czech bureaucracy is new to you — we help our clients through the process at no charge. Many of our riders registered on all three platforms with our support.

Pay structure

Wolt: Base pay per order is 60–90 Kč depending on distance and zone. Surge pricing during peak hours is the most aggressive of the three platforms — you can earn a 20–40% bonus during busy dinner slots. Wolt also runs weekly challenges (e.g., complete 40 orders and earn an extra 500 Kč bonus).

Bolt Food: Base rate 55–80 Kč per order. Lower peak bonuses than Wolt, but more consistent base earnings. Bolt occasionally runs promotional periods with significantly higher payouts — keep an eye on in-app notifications.

Foodora: Base rate 65–85 Kč. Foodora has traditionally paid the most per order but has lower order volume than Wolt in central Prague. The payout schedule is reliable and predictable.

Order volume and zone coverage

Wolt has the largest restaurant network in Prague and the highest order volume, especially in Praha 1–3. If you want to maximise orders per hour, Wolt is the default choice for central Prague.

Bolt Food is strongest in residential areas (Praha 6, 7, and 8) and has been growing its restaurant base aggressively. If you live in one of these districts, Bolt may give you shorter pickup distances.

Foodora covers a broader geographic range and has a loyal customer base, but its order volume per hour is lower than Wolt in the city centre. It's a good second platform to run alongside Wolt.

Which platform should you start with?

For most couriers starting in central Prague: start with Wolt. It has the highest order density, the best peak bonuses, and the most support resources.

If you're based in the north or west of the city: start with Bolt Food, then add Wolt.

Once you're established: register on all three. Working multiple platforms gives you flexibility and a safety net when one is slow.

The good news: registration on all three platforms is free, and there's no exclusivity — you can work for all of them simultaneously if you choose.

Does the bike matter?

Yes, significantly. An e-bike gives you a clear advantage over a pedal bike: you arrive at the restaurant less tired, you can take on longer-distance orders confidently, and you complete more deliveries per hour. On hilly zones (Vinohrady, Žižkov, Letná), the difference is even more pronounced.

Just Rent Service rents e-bikes to couriers starting from 2,500 Kč/month, including batteries, service, and maintenance. Most couriers recover the rental cost within the first 10–12 hours of work.
